PLASTICS ASIA 2002
August 27-28, 2002 at Pearl Continental Hotel, Lahore, Pakistan

PLASTICS ASIA 2002 is being organized by The Development Times in collaboration with the Pakistan Plastics Manufacturers Association (PPMA), Bureau of Quality Management. Other cooperating organizations are STEDEC under Ministry of Science & Technology Govt. of Pakistan, United Nations Asian and Pacific Centre for Transfer of Technology, National Productivity Organisation (NPO) – Govt. of Pakistan – Lahore & liaison Office of Asian Productivity Organisation of Japan. It is planned to be inaugurated befittingly. The Development Times recently organized four events in year 2000 & 2001 successfully in the Engineering Industry and Telecom & IT Sectors.

SCOPE & OBJECTIVES
Plastic Industry in any developing economy like that of Pakistan plays a pivotal role in national growth, high value addition in exports and strengthening of economy with a quantum leap. Plastic Industry covers all large, medium & small industries & business houses engaged in the manufacture of Plastic complete products, parts, users of plastic parts, raw materials industry, machinery manufacturers for plastics, machinery manufacturers for plastic products, vendors traders importers of plastic products. The industry needs continuous R & D, innovation, modernization through Technology Transfer, Quality assurance applications, productivity improvement & cost effectiveness. The objectives of the event are to stimulate ideas & discussions on the subjects listed below and to arrange interaction between potential buyers & sellers of the industry. Pakistan's plastics industry offers an attractive market to foreign buyers, sellers & manufacturers for procurements & joint ventures especially due to cost effectiveness.

COMMITTEES
The Industrial Relations Committee of the Conference is headed by Mr. Muhammad Ali Mian, President PPMA. The organizing Committee is led by Mian Fazal Ahmad – Chairman The Development Times. The Technical Committee is headed by Syed Nabeel Hashmi of PPMA.

EXHIBITION
An impressive two days Exhibition of the Plastics Industry covering manufacturers, contractors & services providers to the industry has been planned to be projected in the spacious Crystal Hall of the Hotel. It is an excellent opportunity for business Promotion locally and internationally. Foreign entrepreneurs are likely to participate in addition to local investors & buyers.

VENUE
The event is being organized in the Pearl Continental Hotel, Lahore, which is a prestigious 5 star hotel.

The following Plastics Industries & establishments in addition to others may participate in the Exhibition particularly those with exports capability: Manufacturers, Fabricators, Contractors, Vendors of all type Plastic Products, Machinery, Raw Materials, Parts & Appliances, Consultants and relevant Services Providers to the Plastic Industry would also be welcomed as Exhibitors. - Manufacturers of Crockery, Electrical Fittings, Pipes, Plastics Packaging, Furniture Industry, Mould Manufacturers, Autoparts Industry, HVACR products, Manufacturers of Stationery, Sanitary Fittings, Fans Shoes, Surgical Instruments, Textiles, Kitchenware, Bottles, Processed Food & Dairy Products, Foot wear, Industrial components and other Plastic products & partmakers.

CALL FOR PAPERS
National & International Experts concerned with Plastics Industry are invited to contribute solution oriented papers for the Conference, interalia in the following areas relevant to the Plastics Industry.

(11) Raw Materials – issues & solutions, Certificates & Shields will be awarded to the authors whose papers are accepted. Intending authors may fax / e-mail their Synopsis of about 300 words by June 30, 2002 to the Conference Secretariate.
