The Asian and Pacific Centre for Transfer of Technology

The Asian and Pacific Centre for Transfer of Technology (APCTT) is a regional institution of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific servicing the Asia-Pacific region.

The Centre works towards strengthening the national capacity of member States to nurture and promote national innovation systems and to create an enabling environment for the development and transfer of technology. The Centre was established in 1977 in Bangalore, India and moved to New Delhi in 1993.

Our Focus

APCTT supports the capacity-building of member countries to strengthen Science, Technology and Innovation policy for fostering technology-based sustainable development. The Centre focuses on creating an enabling environment for the development and transfer of innovative technologies so that member countries can meet development challenges in today’s globalized world.

Working towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

APCTT promotes regional cooperation on science, technology and innovation to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. APCTT has been fostering inclusive partnerships between governments, research and development institutions, private sector and civil society for transfer, dissemination and diffusion of environmentally sound technologies between countries in the Asia-Pacific Region. While developing partnerships and creating an enabling environment for innovation and technology transfer, the Centre not only contributes towards the SDGs 9 and 17 but also supports the other SDGs through specific technologies related to different SDG goals.
